September 17: A memory you would love to relive.

I have so many fond memories that I would love to relive, but if I had to pick one, I would pick my wedding day! So much love, fun, happiness and fond memories with all of my friends and family in one spot! What a wonderful day to start the rest of our lives together!
Whenever Lanny and I go to a wedding, we always say, ours was the best.

Cheap, foam handsoap

This has nothing to do about blogtember, but I just have to share a pin I found on Pinterest that I decided to try. I really like foam soap, because the girls get the other type of soap all over the basin of the sink and then I feel I have to clean it more often.  We fly through it much more quickly...hence, more $$.

Here is what you need:

  • 1 empty foaming hand soap pump ( I had an empty Dial one)
  • Hand soap of your choice
  • Water
1. Fill your empty foaming hand soap container with about 1/2 inch of the hand soap.
2. Fill the rest of the foaming hand soap container with water.
3. Gently rock and mix the water with the hand soap.  It does not mix 100%, but pretty well.  The pin said not to shake.
4. Now you have foam soap.

The hand soap was about $1 at Target.  I'm sure I can get about 7-8 batches out of it.  This is not something that will save me hundreds of dollars a month, but a few bucks here and there...I'll take it.

A story about a time you were very afraid.

When I was a kid, I had a fear that my parents would never come pick me up and leave me somewhere forever.  My babysitter was always late picking me up in Kindergarten and I developed the fear that I was going to be left.

A distinct memory I have occurred at the public library when I was probably in first grade.  My mom must have taken me to a story time where you leave your kid there and roam the bookshelves while they are being entertained.  I'm sure she told me where she was going to be and that she'd be back.  After a while, I panicked and started searching for her (why they let me leave is beyond me .)   I couldn't find her and went to the front desk and they paged her over the intercom.  My mom quickly came and held me tight and said she was sorry and that she'd never just leave me.

I do not have this fear anymore:)

3 Months Off

My friend Chelsea asked if anyone wanted to do blogtember and post everyday in September.  Clearly I have failed as it's already the 5th, but payday put me in a good mood so I'll post tonight!

If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world, what would you do?

1.) I would spend a chunk of my time in the mountains of Colorado.  It makes no difference if it's summer or winter, Colorado is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.  Here are a couple of vacation photos from the past.  When my mom turned 50, the two of us went to Colorado and camped, hiked visited shops, did more camping and hiking and just enjoyed the simplicity of slowing down and enjoying the small things in life.  No cell phones, T.V., movies.  It was nice just to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life.

2.) I'd take the kids to Disney World.  I have been to Disney World four times in my life.  Once in middle school with my family, twice in high school band, and once with Lanny a year after we were married.  It really is one the happiest places in the world.  Lauren and Reese love Mickey right now, they'd have fun!

3.) I would also just like to not have to worry about cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping etc.  I'd like to check out of those things and focus on family and making memories.

Way to go!

I'm so proud of my friends for all of the mileage being logged! It's hard to find time to stay fit and make it a priority when there is so much going on (and when the weather is HOT!)

I am especially proud of my husband, Lanny.  He has ran more than me (this week anyway, can you tell we are competitive) and is participating in his first race tomorrow! It's nice to have support at home.  Way to go Lanny!

To begin a new project....or not?

I hate our kitchen.  It's small, our appliances suck, the counter tops are ugly and the cabinets are just blah.  I read this article in Better Homes and Gardens about a kitchen remodel for $3200.  The family in the articles biggest expense was the island and appliances.  We couldn't do an island, due to how small our kitchen is, but an upgrade in appliances really is a must.  It's so refreshing and pretty!

Here are my reservations about tackling this project.
   1. Not sure how much longer we will be in this house.  Is it worth it? It could add value to the house though....

  2. Time.  Holy cow, this is going to take some time.

  3. Disaster zone.  Our house is a disaster with twins as it is.  Do I really want to have more of a tornado then I already have?

To do or not to do?  Here are the pictures:

Here's a blog that gives pointers on painting cabinets.
